An earthquake of moderate intensity hit Assam and its neighbouring areas at 2.31 on Tuesday afternoon. The intensity of the quake has been measured as five point five in the Richter scale. According to official sources, the epicenter of the quake is in Manipur bordering Myanmar. There is no immediate report of any damage due to the quake in the region. Scared people came out of their houses when the jerk was felt. AIR correspondent reports that this was the tenth moderate quake being felt in the North East during last three months. <br/>
