A earthquake of moderate intensity measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale was felt in the north eastern states of Meghalaya, Manipur and Assam this morning. Its epicenter was located in Phek district of Nagaland, about 66 kilometers east of Kohima at a depth of 59 kilometers beneath the earth surface. The earthquake started to rock at 9.44 am and was felt for about 2 seconds in Meghalaya, Manipur and parts of upper and lower Assam. There are no immediate reports of loss of life and property.
