Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude hits Taiwan

An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted the sea region off Taiwan's Hualien today. According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake with a depth of 6.8 kilometres was initially determined to be at 24.162 degrees north latitude and 121.698 degrees east longitude. There were no reports of any immediate casualty or damage.
