A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 at Richter scale rocked Taiwan on Saturday, the central weather bureau said this in Taipei. It said that there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The quake hit at 2306 IST about 23 kilometers off the east coast of Taiwan at a depth of 15 kilometers and was felt in the capital Taipei, the bureau said. Taiwan is regularly hit by earthquakes as the island lies near the junction of two tectonic plates. A 7.6-magnitude quake killed around 2,400 people in September 1999.<br/><br/>
