An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale shook upper areas of Pakistan today. According to the Meteorological Department, the quake had its epicenter 100 km west north-west of Gilgit area at a depth of 13.9 kilometre. Tremors were also felt in Mansehra, Balakot and Chitral. People came out of their homes in panic though there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
