An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale rocked the north-eastern state of Meghalaya early this morning. Met officials said the quake struck at 4.50 a.m. and had its epicentre at a place along the Indo-Myanmar border. The tremor triggered panic among the residents. It also was felt in others parts of the region, including Guwahati. There are no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage.
