The stage is set for second summit of the Forum for India Pacific Island Cooperation, FIPIC, to be held in Jaipur on Friday. <br/><br/>Heads of state and senior officials of the fourteen island countries will participate in the summit.<br/><br/>Prime Minister Narender Modi will address the summit on Friday.<br/><br/>Mr. Modi during his visit to Fiji in 2014 had identified areas for cooperation including food processing, fisheries, solar energy , tele-medicine and climate change and proposed FIPIC summit to be held regularly.<br/><br/>A Forum for India Pacific Islands Cooperation FIPIC was set up, and the forthcoming summit in Jaipur is part of the process.<br/><br/>The first FIPIC summit was held in Suva Fiji in November, 2014 .

External Affairs Minister Shusma Swaraj has welcomed the leaders and delegates participating in the India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit.<br/><br/>She said, India is delighted and honored to host the 2nd Summit of the Forum for FIPIC.<br/><br/>Addressing a welcome reception, Mrs Swaraj on Wednesday said, India has always given great importance to the development of the relations with the pacific island countries.<br/><br/>She said, in a spirit of solidarity and South- South cooperation, New Delhi has for long partnered in the development efforts of the Pacific Island countries by sharing its experience and expertise as well as intellectual, financial and technological resources.<br/><br/>The Minister said, India also stands ready to share its expertise and technologies for mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change like renewable energy.
