External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar left for Bhutan on his next leg of visit after completing his visit to Bangladesh. Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Masud Bin Momen saw him off in Dhaka on Friday morning after a brief and significant visit to Bangladesh.<br />''<br />''Dr. Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka Thursday and called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He later held a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen in Dhaka. Dr. Jaishankar extended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit India. During the meeting, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual interest as well as regional and global issues of importance.<br />''<br />''Addressing the media after his meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen on Thursday, Dr. Jaishankar said that the visit was aimed at deepening the continuing engagement between the two countries. The regularity, informality and cordiality of the interaction is a very good reflection of trust and confidence between the two countries, said Dr. Jaishankar.<br />''<br />''Dr. Jaishankar expressed happiness that trade, disbursement of loans on bilateral projects, travel services and investment are at new heights and that they have recovered the momentum which was lost during the Covid. He hoped for the early commissioning of new projects in energy and connectivity sectors among others. Foreign Minister Dr. Momen recalled that the two countries had resolved many of the outstanding issues in the spirit of friendship and cooperation. <br />''<br />''He expressed hope that all outstanding issues including the early signing of the Teesta Water Sharing Treaty may be concluded at an early date. Foreign Minister Dr. Momen also announced 200 scholarships by the Government of Bangladesh for the family members of war veterans of India who fought for Bangladesh in 1971.<br />
