EAM expresses grief over attack on Indian origin US National

<br/>External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has expressed grief over the attack on Deep Rai, an Indian origin US national.<br/> <br/>A masked gunman had shot at the Sikh man in Washington State and allegedly shouted go back to your own country. In a series of tweets today, the Minister said she spoke to father of the victim who informed her that his son had a bullet injury on his arm. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj said he is out of danger and is recovering in a private hospital. The Consul General of India in San Francisco is in touch with local authorities who are ascertaining the nature of the crime. <br/><br/>The incident came days after an Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead at a bar in Kansas by a US navy veteran.<br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj also expressed her pain on the killing of Harnish Patel, also a US national of Indian origin at Lancaster in South Carolina. She said a Consular official has reached Lancaster and met the family of Harnish Patel and the investigation of the case is in progress. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj expressed her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Harnish Patel.<br/>
