Assam Government has decided to set up training centres in each block of the State for skill development of women. <br/><br/>These centres will provide training to rural women in different income-generating activities to make them socially, politically and economically empowered. <br/>The State Government is also considering implementation of a new scheme of providing two plant saplings to those families giving birth to girl child. This was disclosed by the State Chief Minister Mr. Tarun Gogoi while addressing a day-long seminar on ’empowerment of women for sustainable development through handloom and handicraft’ at Guwahati on Friday. <br/><br/>The seminal was jointly organized by the National Women Commission and the State women Commission.<br/><br/>Talking on the changing scenario of the villages, the Chief Minister mentioned that self help movement has proved to be very successful in the State with more and more women groups coming forward towards setting up their income-generating units with financial support from the Government.
