Each and everyone of us should adopt at least one child to prevent malnourishment: Smriti Irani

<span style="color: black;">Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani today urged that in order to prevent malnourishment among children each and everyone of us should adopt at least one child.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Speaking at a programme on Poshan Abhiyaan at Gandhi Seva Mandir in Mumbai, she said, through the Abhiyaan, message has to be sent to the world that in independent India, no child suffers from malnourishment. She said, it is the responsibility of family and society as a whole to look after the nutritional health of a pregnant woman.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Ms. Irani said, people are confident that through this Abhiyaan, Prime Minister wants to bring in social change into the society.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">She said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Poshan Abhiyaan has taken shape of a revolution.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">The Minister said, such programmes were undertaken in the past, but for the first time common people have joined the initiative.</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">She expressed confidence that through this Abhiyaan children and women in the country will become healthy and it will help in making new India.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">In another programme at Anjuman-e-Islam Institute, she asked people to resolve that when the country celebrates one hundred years of independence no child in the country suffers from malnourishment.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">She further said that through Matruvandana Yojana, a total of Eight Thousand Eight Hundred crore rupees have been disbursed into the bank accounts of millions of women.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">She said in order to monitor the development and growth of children in Aanganwadi, the Prime Minister has made available 10 lakh Aanganwadi Poshan Tracking System.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">At present, nine crore pregnant women and children are being tracked through it.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Earlier in the day, the Minister interacted with pregnant and lactating mothers at Mumbai's Dharavi as part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Ms. Irani tried to understand the problems faced by the pregnant and lactating mothers. She also advised them to take precautions during the pregnancy period.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">On this occasion, the Minister gave away fruit baskets to some of the beneficiaries of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Poshan Abhiyaan is Government of India's flagship programme to improve nutritional status of children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">Focusing on the aims of Poshan Abhiyaan, Mission Poshan 2.0 (Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0) has been announced in the Budget this year as an integrated nutrition support programme, to strengthen nutritional content, delivery, outreach and outcomes with focus on developing practices that nurture health, wellness and immunity to disease and malnutrition.<br />''</span><br />'' <span style="color: black;">In order to ensure community mobilization and bolster people's participation, every year, the month of September is celebrated as Poshan Maah across the country.</span><br />
