E-auction for the second batch of 266 FM radio channels in 92 cities will begin tomorrow. Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu in New Delhi today, expressed optimism for a positive response in the auction. <br/><br/>Mr. Naidu said, the government hopes to get as much money as possible from the second round of auctions. The second batch of FM Phase-III consists of 266 channels in 92 cities which includes 227 channels in 69 fresh cities and 39 channels in 23 existing cities.<br/><br/>E-auction of the first batch of private FM radio phase III channels comprising 135 channels in 69 existing cities of Phase II, which had commenced on 27th July 2015, had got over in September 2015. <br/><br/>At the closure of the e-auction, 97 channels in 56 cities became provisional winning channels with cumulative provisional winning price of about 1,156.9 crore rupees against their aggregate reserve price of about 459.8 crore rupees.
