Dy EC reviews assembly election preparedness in West Bengal

The Deputy Election Commissioner Mr.Vinod Jutshi reviewed the assembly election preparedness in West Bengal with officials of the state election department at a meeting in Kolkata Tuesday morning. The Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Sunil Gupta and other officials of the State Election Department were present at the meeting. Later Mr. Jutshi met senior officials of West Bengal and Kolkata police to take stock of the law and order situation ahead of polls in the state. Meanwhile, campaigning is gaining momentum for first phase of election which will take place in 54 seats covering six North Bengal districts on next Monday. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that altogether 364 candidates are in the fray for this phase. Prominent leaders of all major political parities are on hectic tour for campaigning. Central Para military force have already taken position in all sensitive areas. AIR correspondent reports, vigilance in the inter-state border and international border along-with Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan have been intensified.
