The festival of Dussehra symbolizing the victory of truth over untruth and good over evil is being celebrated today. The effigies of Ravana, Meghnada and Kumbhakarna will be consigned to flames at many places.In Delhi, the festival of Dussehra, symbolising victory of good over evil was celebrated with gaiety and fervor in different parts of New Delhi today. This also marked the end of nine-day long Navratri festival. At a function held in the Red Fort ground, President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit and several other dignitaries witnessed the consigning to flames the effigies of Ravana, Meghnada and Kumbhkarna.In Rajasthan, the historic and old fair of Dussehra began this evening after burning the effigy of Ravana. About two lakh people had gathered at Mela Ground to witness the celebrations.
