Dussehra festival marking the triumph of good over evil is being celebrated all over the country today.

The President, Vice President and Prime Minister have greeted the people on the occasion. Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil said the festival should motivate the people to work whole-heartedly for the betterment of the nation.

Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari hoped the festival will inspire the people to work for peace and prosperity of the country. Dr. Manmohan Singh said, the festivals are an inspiration for a life of righteous action. He expressed the hope that Durga Puja and Dussehra would usher in peace, prosperity and happiness for all.

In Karnataka, world renowned Mysore Dussehra festivities will conclude on Vijaya Dasami day today. The day is marked by a grand procession led by caparisoned elephant that carry Goddess Chamundeshwari idol in a golden howdah. The Governor of Karnataka H.R. Bhardwaj, Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda and his Council of Ministers are participating in the Vijaya Dasami ceremony today.
