About 75 community Durga puja organizers have agreed to get their idols painted with lead free, nontoxic colours. The organizer expressed their willingness to use green and environmentally safer paints at a meeting called by the pollution control board. The Chief law officers of the pollution control board Mr. Biswajit Mukherjee said that other then the 75 puja committees, the board has been receiving regular queries from other organizers about lead free paints. Mr. Partha Ghosh, Vice President of the Forum for Durgotsav said that most organizers in the association have decided to get their idols painted with lead free colours.
