Durga Puja, the biggest of the Bengali festival gets off to a colourful start on the Maha Shasti day on Sunday. The five day long festivity kicks off with the invocation of Devi Durga this evening. AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that the entire metropoli is hit by Puja fever as brilliantly decorated pandals have been set up from one end to another part of the city.

As evening set in, there is a riot of colours with dazzling illumination when thousands of people are out on the street to have a glimpse of the idols.

Beating of drums and blowing of microphones have given extra punch to the entire atmosphere. The State Government has made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order during the Puja days.
