Today is Durga Ashtami, the eighth day of&nbsp; Navratra festival. On this day, devotees are worshiping Maa Mahagauri and perform various rituals, including Kanjak or Kanya Pujan. Hawans and Yagya are also solemnized in different temples on the occasion of Durga Ashtami.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />'' In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir also, thousands of devotees have been paying obeisance in different temples of Mata Durga which include Bawe Wali Mata Jammu, Koul Kandoli Nagrota, Chichi Mata Samba, Sukrala Mata Temple in Kathua district since the early morning hours on Sunday. During the first seven days of the Navratri festival, more than 2.47 lakh devotees have paid their obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine atop the Trikuta Hills in Reasi district.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />'' Meanwhile, devotees have been thronging the Durga temples across Kashmir Division since early morning on Sunday. Kheer Bhawani temples in Tulmulla Ganderbal, Tikkar in Kupwara, and Durganag Temple in Srinagar etc. have been beautifully decorated where Hawans are also being organised praying to the Goddess Durga for bestowing prosperity to the whole mankind and lasting peace in Kashmir region.
