Indian Super League (ISL) giants Mumbai City FC will take on Bengaluru FC in the final of the 131st edition of the Durand Cup in Kolkata this evening. While Mumbai City FC defeated two-time champion Mohammedan SC in the semis, Bengaluru FC beat Hyderbad FC to seal their spot in the final.
Both sides look to win their maiden Durand Cup trophy, the oldest running football tournament in Asia. The first edition of the competition was played in 1888.
The 34-day tournament played across three states for the first time will culminate with the 47th and final match between two top teams and former champions of the Indian Super League, ISL. While Bengaluru FC will be fighting for its seventh domestic title, Mumbai City FC will be in search of a third crown at this level.
