Dues cleared to foreign companies: CWG OC

The Commonwealth Games organizing committee on Tuesday claimed that it has cleared dues amounting over to hundred and eleven crore rupees to 36 of the 45 foreign companies involved with the conduct of the event held in New Delhi last year.In a release in New Delhi, it said that the remaining nine companies have already been paid over hundred and ninety crore rupees and a balance of about eighteen crore has been withheld owing to non-performance of contractual obligations. Earlier few companies from Australia and England had threatened to sue the CWG organizers for non-payment of pending dues. The issue of non payment by the CWG organizers had figured in Foreign Minister S M Krishna's visit to Australia.
