Due to STF, larger haul of narcotics could be enabled from Indo-Pak border: IG, BSF Punjab Frontier

Hailing the working of Special Task Force against drug abuse by the Punjab Government, Inspector General of BSF Punjab Frontier, Mukul Goel today said that due to the inputs given by the STF, the larger haul of narcotics could be enabled from Indo-Pak border. <br/><br/>As compared to only eight cases of drug seizure on the basis of inputs of Punjab Police last year, due to inputs of STF, as many as 20 seizures of drugs were made by BSF this year, he revealed.<br/><br/>On the overall drug seizures of the BSF, he said that in the year 2017, BSF seized 279.49 KGs of Heroin, which is almost 50 KG more than the seizure of 230 KG in the year 2016.<br/><br/>IG Goel revealed that due to the bumper production of Heroin in Afghanistan, main supplier of narcotics, attempts to smuggle it from Indo-Pak border witnessed spurt, which could be evident from the largest seizure of 55 KG of Heroin at one go by the border guarding force.<br/><br/>
