Dubai's State transport authority have announced that they aim to launch hover-taxis by July this year, with the aim to introducing aerial vehicle in UAE and de congesting the road traffic. Made by a Chinese firm, Hover taxi EHang 184 can travel on a programmed course at 100 kilometres an hour (60 mph) at an altitude of 300 metres (1,000 feet), the authority said in a statement.<br/><br/>A passenger simply needs to select a destination for the autonomous taxi or the flying cars to take off, fly the route and touchdown in the chosen spot monitored by a ground control centre, it said. <br/><br/>EHang 184 merges two of the biggest advancement in transport in recent years – hovering and self driving technology. The 5 feet high quadcopter drone powered by eight propellers, weighs approximately 200 kgs, and can recharge in 2 hours. it can carry one passenger. The officials here said that a successful test flight has already been done. Dubai is also a leading tourist destination in the Gulf region attracting a record 14.9 million visitors in 2016. <br/><br/>Having recently signed the feasibility study for a near supersonic link from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to reduce the travelling time , the government here does appear to be committed to experiment with technology in the transport sector.
