Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu has won her opening match in the World Super series Finals badminton tournament. In Dubai today, she defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in three games 12-21, 21-8, 21-15. Only the top eight ranked players in the Destination Dubai Rankings qualify for the tournament. Her group consists of Carolina Marin, Chinese Sun Yu, besides Yamaguchi. In another group of the round-robin competition, Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, South Korea's Sung Ji-hyun, Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand and China's He Bingjiao will compete for the semifinals.
