Dubai Open:Bhupathi, Bopanna, with respective partners enter Men's Doubles QFs

The Indo-French pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Michael Llodra and the Indo-American duo of Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram have stormed into the Men's Doubles quarterfinals of the ATP Dubai Open Tennis Championships. In their opening round match last night, while Bhupathi and Llodra defeated the Serbian pair of Janko Tipseravic and Viktor Troicki, 6-3, 6-3; Bopanna and Ram beat the second seeded Pak-Dutch combination of Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer, 6-4, 6-4. Both pairs will play for a semi-final berth later today. Bhupathi and Llodra will take on the fourth seeded Polish pair of Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg, while Bopanna and Ram will clash with Czech Lukas Rosol and his Romanian partner, Viktor Hanescu.In the Men's Singles, India's Somdev Devvarman yesterday crashed out of the tournament, after losing to fourth seed Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina, 4-6, 4-6 in the pre-quarterfinals.Meanwhile, top seeds like Serbia's World Number One Novak Djokovic, World Number Two Roger Federer of Switzerland and Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic yesterday won their pre-quarterfinal fixtures to advance into the Men's Singles last-eight stage.
