Dubai Airshow kicked off with aircraft and engines purchase deals worth $192 billion on the opening day at Dubai World Central on Sunday.Emirates airline took the lead by placing an order for 150 Boeing 777X aircraft.These include 35 Boeing 777-8Xs and 115 Boeing 777-9Xs. It has also acquired purchase rights for 50 more aircrafts.In addition Emirates will buy 50 Airbus A380 aircraft. The total deal runs into $99 billion making it the largest ever aircraft order in civil aviation in a day.Emirates Airlines said in a statement that the move is aimed to help its fleet expansion and fleet replacement needs.Etihad Airways has placed orders for 87 Airbus aircraft, along with the purchase rights for 30 more planes at around $ 26.9 billion for its global expansion of its operations.At a press conference, the CEO of Etihad Airways James Hogan said the move will help expand its operations in the gulf region and the Indian subcontinent.He said that after the acquisition of 24 percent shares of Jet Airways, Etihad needs this forward push to continue the momentum.
