DU VC Dinesh Singh resigns over FYUP row

Delhi University Vice chancellor Dinesh Singh has resigned. His resignation comes amid controversy over Four Year Undergraduate Programme, FYUP.

His decision comes after the UGC had directed the University to scrap the programme and conduct the admission process under the three-year degree programme.

Reacting to the Vice chancellor's resignation, Delhi University Teacher Association President Nandita Narian said action must be taken against him for starting FYUP without approval of the concerned authorities.

She said that he cannot get away with the resignation.

Meanwhile the Congress Leader Manish Tewari held the NDA government responsible for the resignation of the Vice Chancellor. He said that the resignation is unfortunate.

University teachers who are in favour of the FYUP are on hunger strike.

They alleged political interference in the issue and said that the Human Resource Development Ministry and the University Grants Commission are responsible for the mess.
