In Punjab, with the seizure of 12 kilogram of Heroin from Fatehpur area in Amritsar sector adjoining border with Pakistan, the vigilant Border Security Force has once again thwarted another attempt of smugglers to smuggle narcotics into India, late last night. The cost of the seized Heroin is said to be in crores in the international market. The BSF personnel seized the heroin packed in 12 packets along with arms and ammunition from smugglers after a brief shoot-out. No body has reportedly been hurt in this. However, smugglers managed to flee from the site taking advantage of standing crops and darkness. In number of attempts by smugglers and anti-national elements during this year to sneak narcotics and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) into Indian terriroty, the BSF has recovered about 140 kilogram of Heroin and more than 19 lakh rupees of FICN along with number of arms and ammunition from smuggler. The force has also shot dead 10 smugglers including one from India in this year
