Former Chief Minister of Punjab Capt. Amrinder Singh says, drug addiction is on the rise in the state and stands at number two after Nagaland. Quoting a UN on Development Project, he said more than 73 percent of adults including females in the state are addicts. In an interaction with media in Jalandhar he said the situation is so bad that 62 per cent of them are between 19 to 24 years of age group. Capt. presented this startling figure of drug addiction during Expressing concern over the situation, Capt. Amrinder Singh blamed Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan responsible for increase in drug addiction because of easy availability of drugs there. He said that a national drug policy is required to deal with the situation.
