According to US official figures, the worst draught in 50 years and record high temperatures has caused more damage to the corn crop than expected. One sixth of this year's crop has been destroyed in the past one month because of the hot dry weather. According to US Department of Agriculture, this year's corn yield is expected to be the lowest since 1995-96. The US is the world's biggest producer of corn, soybeans and wheat.
