Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting with the Chief Minister of drought-hit Telangana K. Chandrashekhar Rao in New Delhi. Mr Modi discussed measures taken to deal with the drought situation. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan this evening. The discussions with Chief Ministers are state specific and aimed at ensuring the best possible means to collectively mitigate the drought. These meeting are part of Prime Minister's exercise to review the situation in 11 drought-hit states. <br/><br/>Earlier, Mr. Modi met the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka. During those meetings, the Prime Minister had said that the Centre and the States will have to work together to mitigate the problems faced by the people. He had pitched for focus on medium and long term solutions for drought-proofing. He had also laid stress on the use of technologies like remote sensing and satellite imaging for planning of water conservation and recharge structures.

Drought crisis: PM holds meeting with Telangana CM
