Drop out rates in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts of the country have been showing a decreasing trend since the inception of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.

Giving this information, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shashi Tharoor said that in a few areas, however, the progress is not satisfactory. He said that Left Wing Extremism districts are treated as Special Focused Districts for need based planning and sanctions.

He said that in order to address the problem of drop out in such districts, Sarv Shiksh Abhiyan provides for Opening of new schools, recruitment of new teachers depending on enrolment and all other activities.
