In Pakistan, at least 25 suspected militants have been killed in a drone strike in the tribal region of North Waziristan. Officials say the US missiles hit the Datta Khel area about 40 kms west of the regional capital, Miranshah. According to a local TV channel report, the U.S. drone fired four missiles at a house in a village in the area in which a group of people suspected to be militants were reported to be holding a meeting inside. Those killed were believed to be linked to Taliban commander Hafiz Gul Bahadur. The area is a stronghold for militants linked to al-Qaeda and the Taliban.
