In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces today achieved a major success by killing a dreaded terrorist and self-styled divisional commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba during an encounter in the border district of Poonch. The slain ultra has been identified as Abu Usman, a Pakistani national who was active in the Poonch district for the last 5-6 years. After receiving specific information about the presence of some top militants of LeT, troops of Army and Police launched a search operation in Marhote area of Doban Gali in Surankote tehsil of this border district late last night. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch, Ashkoor Wani told AIR that gun fight was stopped but an extensive search operation is being carried out in the area as the presence of some more militants in the area cannot be ruled out. A pistol and some ammunition have been recovered from the slain militant from the encounter site.
