In Tamil Nadu, a rural road connecting Periakalanthai and Dasanaickenpalayam wards of Kinathukadavu Panchayat in Coimbatore district Tamil Nadu was constructed under District Rural Development Agency. The road stretching a distance of 4kms benefits around 2500 people living in the area opening access to 400 acres of agricultural land. The road was constructed under the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana scheme of Bharath Nirman Phase II. The work was launched in the year 2007-08 and completed in two years time at a cost of Rs.99.37 lakhs.AIR correspondent reports, the road connects Periakalanthai and Dasanaickenpalayam wards in Kinathukadavu panchayat in Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu is very useful to the local people in the area. After laying this road the distance between the two wards were reduced from 8 kms to 4 kms. This road also connects Dindigal-Bangaluru National Highway 209 and Avinashi-Pollachi State Highway. Dr. Manohara Singh, Project Director District Rural Development Agency, DRDA Coimbatore district told that under Bharath Nirman Phase II plan 26 roads with a distance of 50.82kms were constructed in the district at a cost of about Rs.13 crore. This Phase II plan was taken up in the year 2008-09 and completed in two years time. He further explained that under Bharath Nirman Phase III plan DRDA also submitted a proposal for the construction of another 33 roads with a distance of 57.99kms at a cost around of Rs.15 crore. He hopes that Government will soon give sanction for the launching of this project. The roads which act as the life line of the rural people will definitely change the development face of this region.
