Draft National Policy on Electronics proposes to achieve 400 bln $ turnover by 2020

The draft National Policy on Electronics proposes to achieve the turnover of electronic system design and manufacturing sector to 400 billion dollars by 2020. It is expected to involve employment of around 28 million people at various levels. This was informed by the Minister of State for Communications and I T, Mr. Sachin Pilot in the Rajya Sabha on Friday in a written reply.

He said a draft National Policy on Electronics has been announced in October this year and is available on www.mit.gov.in . The Minister said the salient features of the policy include providing preferential market access for domestically manufactured and designed electronic products. These products include mobile devices and SIM cards with enhanced features.
