Draft legislation on entry and operation of Foreign Universities in India soon

HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal today informed the Rajya Sabha that a draft legislation for regulating the entry and operation of Foreign Universities in India will be taken by the Cabinet for approval soon. Mr. Sibal said that a National Accreditation Authority will also be set up to check on the quality of the educational institutions operating in the country. Clarifying the doubts expressed by the members, Mr. Sibal said that the legislation will be a step towards regulation from the present deregulation scenario. AIR correspondent reports that presently the All India Council for Technical Education frames regulations for entry and operation of foreign universities.<br/><br/>
