Draft Future Tours Programme post-2012 approved in principle

The International Cricket Council approved the post-2012 Draft Future Tours Programme in principle and discussed the vexed issue of WADA anti-doping code's 'whereabouts clause' on the opening day of its two-day Board meeting at Johannesburg.In the meet that started on Tuesday, the ICC also approved a tougher anti-corruption and anti-racism code."…the ICC Board approved in principle the draft FTP post-2012 as recommended by the ICC Chief Executives' Committee last week," the governing body said in a statement."The draft programme was agreed subject to no Member being disadvantaged relative to the current FTP. The executive of the ICC will now carry out a commercial evaluation of the FTP and draft a revision to the FTP regulation as a consequence of the changes contained in the draft," it added.World Anti-doping Agency's (WADA) 'whereabouts clause', which has been rejected by the Indian Cricket Board, was also discussed and the ICC said it remains committed to keeping the sport dope-free."With challenges surrounding the issue of players filing the 'whereabouts' information, the Board considered the matter and discussions are ongoing", it said.The ICC also announced the groupings for the 2011 World Cup to be staged in the Indian sub-continent.The groupings for the tournament were approved on the second day of the ICC Board meeting.The 14 teams have been divided into two groups of seven each.Hosts India have been placed along side South Africa and England among others in the in group 'B' for the 2011 World Cup.West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands will complete the group 'B', while defending champions Australia have a relatively tough pool with Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in their group 'A'.Minnows Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya are also placed in group 'A'.India will host 29 of the 49 matches during the event, including a semi-final and the final.Sri Lanka will stage the other semi-final.According to the provisional schedule, Bangladesh is due to stage the opening ceremony on 18th February and the opening game the next day, as well as two of the quarter-finals.Besides, the Board unanimously approved an enhanced ICC Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption Code and Anti-Racism Code.
