Dr.C.K.Tamilarasan has been appointed as Pro term Speaker to conduct the proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Assembly. In a notification issued by the Governor of Tamilnadu, Dr. K. Rosaiah said that Dr.Tamilarasan being a member of the Assembly has been assigned to perform the duties of the Speaker till a new Speaker is elected. The post of the Speaker lies vacant due to the resignation of Mr.D.Jayakumar. The ruling AIADMK has announced the name of Mr.P.Dhanapal as a contestant for the post.
