The luminary from the world of Indian classical music veteran, 97 year old Dr. Puttaraj Gawai passed away. After shifting from KLE hospital of Belgaum on 13th this month, he was showing signs of recovery. But today, his health deteriorated and he passed away today afternoon in the Punyashram in Gadag district of Karnataka. Pandit Puttaraj Gawai, padmabhusan,blind by birth, was a stalwart in both the styles of classical music, namely Hindustani and Karnatic.
