<span style="color: #222222;">Mumbai Police has arrested Bhakti Mehare, one of the three resident doctors accused of the abatement of their junior colleague Payal Tadvi's suicide. Unable to bear the constant ragging and casteist taunts allegedly by her seniors, 26-year-old Payal Tadvi had committed suicide last Wednesday in her hostel in Mumbai. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Tadvi's family has alleged that Mehare along with Dr Ankita Khandelwal and Dr Hema Ahuja would often threaten their daughter and wouldn't allow her into the operation theatre. She was also mocked for being a tribal on WhatsApp groups.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Earlier, Police had booked the three doctors under the Atrocities Act, the Anti-Ragging Act and the IT Act and section 306 (abatement to suicide) of the IPC. While the first arrest has been made today, the two other doctors remain absconding.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Considering the gravity of the matter, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has suspended the licenses of these three doctors along with Head of Gynaecology Department at Nair Hospital, Dr Yi Ching Ling.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Maharashtra medical education minister Girish Mahajan has also assured that the guilty will be brought to book, adding that the state will look to further strengthen anti-ragging laws.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' While Tadvi's parents and husband continued to protest outside the state-run Nair Hospital where she worked demanding strict action, the National Commission for Women has sought a report of the incident which they termed was deeply disturbing. NCW has issued a notice to Topiwala Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital in Mumbai. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Maharashtra State Commission for Women has also taken cognizance of the matter and issued a notice to the hospital authorities demanding a reply within eight days about the action taken to implement the anti-ragging law.</span><br />
