Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will push for greater reforms of United Nations to make it reflective of contemporary realities besides working with world leaders to put in place effective mechanism to deal with global economy and financial recovery.Prime Minister will be interacting with a host of world leaders during his 5 day visit to New York to attend the 66th UN General Assembly Session. He will be leaving New Delhi on the 21st. Dr Manmohan Singh who will be leading a high level delegation including Foreign Minister Mr S. M. Krishna, National Security Adviser Mr Shivshankar Menon will be addressing the UN general assembly on 24th.Briefing newsmen Foreign Secretary Mr Rajan Mathai said India will work with G- 4 and other like minded countries to maintain the momentum for UN Security Council reforms.Stating that the present session was taking place at a time of continuing financial uncertainties in different parts of the world, Mr Mathai said with food and fuel prices at their peak, the impact was being felt severely by developing countries which were struggling to alleviate poverty.
