Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh today administered the Swachhta pledge to the officers and staff of his Ministry on the occasion of Swachhta Pakhwada in New Delhi. The fortnight long cleanliness drive of the Ministry will continue till 28th of this month.On the occasion, Dr. Singh said Swachhta should be inculcated as a habit.<br/><br/>He said, whether it is Swachh Bharat Mission or the decision of demonetisation, people across India have supported the initiatives.. He said that North East Region (NER) is known for cleanliness and Sikkim has become the Open Defecation Free (ODF) state. He also said that a village in Megalaya has won the title of Asia's cleanest village. <br/><br/>The Minister said that the rest of India should take inspiration from these examples set by Northeast. The activities to be undertaken during the Swachhta Pakhwada include workshop on clean technologies, Swachhta walks, weeding out of old files and visit of officers to all the 8 North East states to spread the message of cleanliness. Secretary, DoNER Naveen Verma and other senior officers and staff from the Ministry were present .
