Doubling farmers' income by 2022 is government's top priority: FM

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today rejected the common perceptions that the Union Budget in not a ing farmers' income by 2022 is government's top priority: FM pro-middle class. <br/><br/>In an interview to DD News after presenting the Budget in Parliament, Mr. Jaitley said, the budget takes care of every section of the society and the government has given some sort of relief to this class in every budget. <br/><br/>He said, 2.5 crore salaried employees and pensioners have been given standard deduction of 40 thousand rupees per annum in this budget. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, doubling the farmers' income by 2022 is government's top priority and it has made a provision of providing Minimum Support Price of 1.5 times of the production cost of crops. He said, MSP is an important pillar to enhance farmers' income.<br/> '<br/>Mr. Jaitley said, this year's budget lays emphasis on strengthening infrastructure and enhancing expenditure in rural areas which will in turn create more job opportunities. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, the government has also accorded priority to the Health sector and announced a health scheme of five lakh rupees coverage per family for 10 crore household. <br/><br/>The Finance Minister said, under Ujjwala scheme, the target of providing free LPG connection has been increased to eight crore BPL households from five crore households earlier.
