The Department of Telecom ,DOT, has extended the deadline by ten days till the 30th of this month for submission of bids by potential auctioneers that will manage the spectrum auction. A DOT release says, as per the new dates, a potential auctioneer will have to submit a bid by the 30th July instead of 20th July.
The auctioneer will manage auction of airwaves in 1800 MHZ and 800 MHZ bands. The DOT has announced a fixed component of five crore rupees in auctioneer fee. This will be apart from the commission that DOT will get after successful completion of auction process. Earlier the auctioneer was only entitled to get a percentage of difference between base price of airwaves in the auction and final price.
AIR Correspondent reports the Empowered Group of Ministers, EGoM, headed by Home Minister P. Chidambaram is likely to meet tomorrow to take view on spectrum price.
