The Department of Telecom, DOT has extended till the 30th of this month the deadline for submission of bids by potential auctioneers who will manage the spectrum auction.
A DOT release says, as per the new dates, a potential auctioneer will have to submit a bid by the 30th July instead of 20th July.
The auctioneer will manage the auction of airwaves in the 1800 MHZ and 800 MHZ bands. DOT has announced a fixed component of five crore rupees as auctioneers fee.
This will not include the commission that DOT will get after successful completion of auction process. Earlier, the auctioneer was only entitled to get a percentage of difference between base price of airwaves in the auction and final price.
AIR correspondent reports the Empowered Group of Ministers, EGoM, headed by Home Minister P. Chidambaram is likely to meet today to take view on spectrum price.
