The Department of Telecom-DoT has allotted a three-digit helpline number 181 to Delhi government for helping women in distress. According to a Delhi government release, the helpline being set up at Delhi Chief Minsiter's office will be operational before the end of this month. The move follows a nationwide uproar over the gang rape of a paramedic student in Delhi. Earlier, the, DoT had alloted a helpline number 167 but changed it to 181 as it is easier to remember.
