In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has been sworn in for a second consecutive time. Governor Retd General JJ Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to Khandu in a function at the Durbar Hall of the Itanagar Raj Bhawan this morning. This is Khandu’s fifth term as member of the State Legislative Assembly. 54 year old Dorjee Khandu was born in Gyangkhar village in Tawang district. A former cadre of the Army Intelligence Core for 7 years, he was conferred the Gold Medal for Meritorious services during the Bangladesh War. He was elected uncontested to the First Arunachal State Assembly in March 1990. Before becoming the Chief Minister in April 2007, Khandu had held different portfolios in the state government including cooperation, Power and mines. This is also the third time that he has been elected unopposed from Mukto constituency.<br/><br/>Speaking to media persons after the swearing in ceremony, Khandu said the Ministry expansion would take place within two or three days after seeking approval of the party high command. He said he will proceed to Delhi tomorrow to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi. Khandu also lashed out at China for indulging in back stabbing and double speak. Reiterating that Arunachal Pradesh is a part of India , he said as far as the documents maintained by the Tawang district administration are concerned, India had boundary with Tibet and not with China . He however said India should not fear China as it takes the country as a friendly neighbour.
