The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has sought nominations from eligible individuals for the appointment of two new Information Commissioners in Central Information Commission, CIC, by early next month. <br/><br/>DoPT said in a public notice that two of the Information Commissioners in the Commission are due to complete their tenure on 31st December 2016 and 17th of February next year.<br/><br/>CIC, set up under the Right to Information Act. The Commission includes one Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and not more than 10 Information Commissioners appointed by the President of India. <br/><br/>The Information Commissioner shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or till he attains the age of 65 years.
