<span style="color: #222222;">Bombay High Court has directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation not to use the vacant resettlement buildings as quarantine centres for suspected COVID-19 patients without prior permission from the court. This was directed after the civic body informed the court that it intends to use the three vacant buildings at the Eversmile Complex as quarantine facilities.<br />''<br />''In an affidavit filed yesterday, BMC said, the number of cases in Mahul are expected to rise to around three thousand by the end of month and the corporation is already facing shortage of designated quarantine centres. The bench was hearing a public interest litigation claiming that Mahul is a heavily industrialized area and the buildings have been declared uninhabitable by the high court and the National Green Tribunal owing to the large-scale pollution in the area. While the BMC said, it would use the facility only as a last resort, the court said the corporation must submit all relevant data and seek permission before proceeding to use the buildings.</span><br />
