The center has started a pilot scheme – Youth to the Edge in the North Eastern Region. It aims to introduce youth from rest of the country to the region and organise combined adventure activities with them. They will be given exposure about local culture, traditions and life style. The scheme was flagged off by Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Paban Singh Ghatowar in Tinsukia in Assam. Ghatowar said that the region is identified as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots for its natural resources and it has vast developmental potential.
